The Drilling Process
Drilling a well is complex and involves executing a well plan through activities customized to ensure wellbore quality and safety while maximizing efficiency and minimizing environmental impact. Drillers perform the well plan activities by following operational procedures, controlling heavy machinery through multiple screens and control devices. Drillers must also control the drilling equipment to generate data that represent the well condition (e.g., friction tests and surveys) and perform actions to maintain well quality and efficiency (e.g., reaming cycles and speed adjustments). The execution of these tasks in a safe, efficient, and repetitive manner is paramount to achieving a high-quality wellbore within budget.
Our Drilling Automation platform automatically executes all relevant drilling activities to improve safety, efficiency, and repeatability. The platform follows an integrated well program to ensure machine actions are executed safely and within the well’s design boundaries. Our Automation platform also integrates third-party apps for pressure management, drilling optimization, directional drilling, and dysfunction mitigation.

The Pipe-handling Process
Pipe-handling is one of the most common, time-consuming, and risk prone activities on the rig that requires constant attention from the entire crew. Drillers and assistant drillers are tasked with safely and efficiently passing tubulars between various pieces of equipment with their own interlocks, tracking their location from various places on the rig, and tracking the order both into and out of the well. At the same time, drillers and assistant drillers must navigate multiple screens, alerts and messages; and have the situational awareness of both crew safety and the data coming from wellbore.
Our pipe-handling automation platform automates and executes all relevant pipe-handling activities to improve safety, efficiency, and repeatability. The platform executes the repetitive machine movements for tripping, drilling connections, stand building, casing building, and riser running while constantly monitoring performance to detect deviations and provide corrective solutions for pipe-handling equipment issues. Our platform also has the ability to drive performance and optimize equipment movement when it is integrated with our advanced sensors so the system can measure and track tubulars around the drill floor and in and out of the well.

The Drilling Fluids Process
Drilling fluids serve as the first line of defense in maintaining a safe and controlled drilling environment. By exerting hydraulic pressure, drilling fluids help to contain formation pressures, preventing blowouts and the uncontrolled release of hydrocarbons. They also aid in wellbore stability, preventing collapses and safeguarding the integrity of the well. Effective management and monitoring of drilling fluid properties enhances safety, minimizes risks, and improves drilling performance.
Our automated drilling fluid system features real-time monitoring and response capabilities to enable prompt action to deviations or issues. Remote operation and control enable centralized management while ensuring accurate and consistent drilling fluid properties. The automated routing system also optimizes drilling fluid utilization, reducing costs, maximizing uptime, and minimizing environmental impact. Additionally, data collection and analysis capabilities deliver insights for process optimization and informed decision-making.
